Cosmic Serande by Ewurama Tawiah Welbeck | Poetry

The Heart’s Keep
After Rumi Jalaluddi’s The Guest House.
“Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
- Proverbs 4:23

Your heart is the only family you have.
Every day, every night, someone embraces it
Or makes a fool out of it.
Yet, your heart is all you can feel—
The emotions, sentiments, unfamiliar tides.
Some, pleasant, and others, painful.
Learn to dance with its flaws,
And make peace with its turbulence.
Three billion beats— a rhythm so divine.
Embrace your sole kin— the heart of your soul.
Preserve and conserve its fragile substances.
Love the heart with all diligence.
So, when your body knows your spirit no more,
the heart can still go on.

Cosmic Serenade
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters
-Genesis 1:2.

Today’s animation was bright,
Filled with sparkles of beacon.
Hope had a name in our to and fro
As our souls drank of dominion’s merlot.
As the night announced its vile regime,
Man was far gone.
Having held on to the wings of faith.
He could feel of light’s calm on his hands.
The shadows of yesterday lurked behind,
Pulling and pushing our limbs.
But the rushing mighty wind hurried in,
Blowing them over the rails of doom.
Glistening glimmers gilded our eyes,
Dusting murky tears.
Through the darkness, our souls were fire,
Elevating the earth’s form for peace.

Doubt in Hope
After Emily Dickson’s Hope.

Doubt is the dark ghost that births anxiety—
A parasite hosted by your heart.
It questions your strength & mocks your devotion.
I have seen of it & lived with the chaos it leaves
In the harmony of one’s heart.
It creeps in woefully & makes a bed
Within the soul where sleep becomes stranger.
I have tasted of its fruits & will now clip its wings
With the devotion that first took flight.
