This book of devotional poems, called Poems of Faith, Hope and Love, expresses my thoughts and feelings about God based on my everyday experiences. Each poem reflects, in many ways, the power of the Holy Spirit that takes the reader through various challenges that provide comfort and assurance. These compositions describe an inner struggle that eventually is resolved through trust in the Christian triad of faith, hope and love. I also believe the challenges described in these poems represent problems most readers might experience during specific times in their lives.
These poems were often inspired by a specific phrase or concept that intuitively led to an entire composition. Because of this, these poems that begin with doubt and insecurity are resolved by God’s promoting to persevere in the Christian faith.
The construction of many of the poems is based on three eight line stanzas written in alternating verse. The first two stanzas suggest a problem or conflict that is finally resolved in the last stanza with a recommitment to God. Finally, all these poems are meant to be encouraging for those of us in the world who wish to lead a life of trust and spiritual fulfillment. – John Zurn

As a Christian and spiritual seeker, John Frederick
Zurn explores the promptings of the Holy Spirit. This
devotion has helped him to cope with sorrow,
disappointment and uncertainty. His poetry reflects his
challenge to lead a Christian life while living in a world that
is sometimes at odds with his Christian values.
Throughout his career, John has attempted to serve
others as a Catholic middle school teacher and a counselor
in developmental training centers. Now retired, he has
volunteered at food panties and assisted living facilities.
John continues to write and daily and over the years,
he has published two Sci-fi fantasy novels, a number of
short stories and five volumes of devotional poetry. His
latest work, Poems of Faith, Hope and Love has been
written in the last year. A number of his earlier poems have
been enjoyed by readers all over the world.
Born in Binghamton, New York John has a B.A. and
M.A. in English and lives with his wife, Donna, in Yorkville,
Illinois.
