walk

the pierced boat i board
is a crest of your ark
briny currents devour
as a flood once did
but the ark is a hieroglyph
of your transcendent
blood

pelagic fog conceals
your tranquil eyes.

i offer you my isle of
passions & affections

swerve my deepest waters
vitality & transgressions.

as a maple’s sap
seeks root below
in frost i cross
seeking you —

the eternal root

creeds & doctrines
can’t control
the sweetest
melodies of my soul

secure my estrangement
to superficiality

as sanctuaries are
often chambers
of dark invocations.

to glimpse omnipotence
i traverse with
poetry & seclusion

seeking you,
alone

Rick Davis lives in the Chicago area, USA.  He is married to Marianne. Marianne has five children, and twenty-four grand & great-grandchildren.  They have a loved cat & dog.  Rick graduated from Northeastern Illinois University, and several graduate schools.  He’s has worked in market research and other positions.  He has worked as a volunteer pastoral counselor at Blind Service Association in Chicago, and at the University of Illinois Hospital at Chicago.  He is an ordained minister and interfaith Rabbi.
